Not condoning what happened obviously.
But this looks like chancers. Stolen for kicks, rather than for it's value. Hence the burning afterwards. Which makes me wonder just how "immobilised" this car was. You can break into and start a Mini with a spoon. Surely a discrete immobiliser and or steering wheel lock would have prevented this?
Hope he had good insurance to cover it.

I don't really like Minis ('cos everyone loves Astras, right?) but there just is no need for that. You do not mess with another man's automobile; it's against the rules.
We all pretty much know if someone wants your car they will either take it fairly swiftly or really mess it up when they fail.

My brother restored this Mini back in the late 1980s over a period of a couple of years then used it for many years until he sold it on to his then boss. After years off the radar with a different owner it is sad to see the pictures of it destroyed.
That must be gutting, seeing it like this now!!!!What a shame.

I was speaking to someone with an old Mini pick-up last week who said that it had been stolen, driven across a couple of counties and then been discovered without number plates and minor damage like a few bits of missing trim. The Mini had been stolen from a garage, so it had been targeted specifically, and it was found with an oily rag in the back which had been intended to set it alight (fortunately it failed). Why would someone target a valuable vehicle, surely knowing its value, and then just destroy it? Not that stealing it to sell would be any more excusable, but at least I could understand it.
