Aston Bodywork advice
Discussion
A year ago, during the heavy Spring snow storm, the roof of my garage descended onto the roof of my V8 Roadster, and much joy was had arranging the insurance quote....Last week a delivery truck decided to drive into the driver door and damaged the wing as an after thought....Does anyone know a "reasonably priced" body shop that can do a sterling job of repairing the damage?
Just got my V8VR back from Chiltern Aston in Bovingdon (near Hemel Hempstead). They did some bodywork repair for me and blended the morning frost in faultlessly........very impressed with their work.
They have a DB5 Superleggera in there for some body and mechanical........they can be trusted for sure

I dont think reasonably priced and Aston Martin grade paintwork go hand-in-hand.
To get the finish you originally had will need a premium bodyshop, and they will never be reasonably priced in the way I suspect you meant.
Just had my wings, bonnet, front and rear bumpers done and they are better than original, but it was certainly not a "budget" paint job.

Don't get me started on Aston paintwork and the approved bodyshops are a joke too. There's only one place I would take the car if I the job has to be perfect first time and that's sl restorations.
Completely agree with the above, Nick & the guys are first class. It's the only place I recommend to clients & would take my cars too despite being 146 miles away.Chris
Hmmm, Its the finish I was referring to and my cars original paintwork has not bubbled and has no "orange peel" effect, the first car I have owned without that, and I have/do own some premium brands.
The car had been previously painted on a couple of panels at an approved bodyshop and these were substandard, blistering within a year and this is disappointing.
Aluminium or composite body panels are notoriously difficult to paint and achieve longevity, especially with all the new regs concerning paints and processes.
This is why I have had mine now done in a 2-pack paint that will also resist those stone chips and bird poo.
As for the back street pain shops referred to above by Neil1300r, I can thoroughly recommend Pam's House of Pain. You will never notice your cars paint any more after a visit to her.
He he.

Thanks for your reply.....I have had a quote from Aston Works for nearly £10,000 ......and from an Aston Dealer who claims to have a body shop, for less than half that amount.....so it's not obvious to me where the difference comes from.....I wouldn't for one minute use a body shop that isn't vetted for quality cars...just wondering where the best value/ quality body shop is...To get the finish you originally had will need a premium bodyshop, and they will never be reasonably priced in the way I suspect you meant.

£10k for that door and wing!!!! I would say that for a very good bodyshop to repair that, you will be looking at around £1k tops. I'll wager the outrageous quotes are for a new wing and door complete, and no insurer will pay for that.8Tech said:
