What Bike - Yet Again

A couple of years ago I started cycling again and bought a Specialized Cross Trail, unfortunately I cheaped out and bought the bottom of the range with the old style block brakes and a non-lockable front fork.

I know that the disk brakes are much better and have decided (after a slight white knuckle experience down a 20% slope on tuesday night) to upgrade my bike.

I'll keep the crosstrail for pootling to work as it's mostly on the flat and it's got a luggage rack and panniers Beyond that I mostly do forest trail riding or at the most gravel tracks - mostly the blue trails at the 7 stanes sites.

I'm looking at spending about £500 - £600.

I was thinking about a Cannondale Trail 6 but am open to other suggestions!

Secondhand hardtail would be my choice for that money. Lots around that have had little use. Better to buy a nearly new better spec bike than an brand new lower spec IMO.

Marin black line pro if you can find one.
