Hi,

I'm planning on purchasing a used car, there's a small dent at the front of the driver door, and I was wondering if anyone could give a ball park figure for how much it would likely cost to repair? I've put a deposit down on the car (refundable) and I'm going to see if that can quote me a price including getting the repair work down. I'd say it's not more than 7cm long and 1cm wide.

Here's the dent:

I'm not worried about the actual dent, just the missing paint. Anyone had any experience with dents?

Thanks,

HI, the dent may be able to be removed by a paintless dent removal chap depending on the access, this can range between £30 to 50 in my experience, again this will depend on how difficult it is. If you are not worried about getting the paint fixed then that might be ok. If you want it repaired you could probably get a "chips away" type job on it, probably c.£80-100. All depends on how bothered you are about it. If you want the thing fixed properly, that would involve a paint shop. Easily £200 plus to do the panel and blend it in, pay for what you get with paint shops.

The edge of the door is double skinned so isn't suitable for PDR, also the paint has gone so there's not really any gain as it will need painted anyway.
Its a two panel repair unfortunately, so depending where you go 2-400 I would imagine.
Youd be hard pushed to get chipsaway to do that for £80.
If your getting it from a dealer, why don't you ask them to get it fixed?

That actually looks a bit of a pain to repair due to location.
You can see it ha altered the panel gap,so it may need to have the door off to knock it back into shape and fill it.

Then a said above it would be paint the door and blend into the front wing and maybe even the rear door/quarter panel.

This could cost anything from £500 upwards depending where you go.
Some places would probably charge £800 just to paint the side.
