VIN vs DVLA info

A question on an Audi VIN if I may.
The tenth digit of the VIN is "8", indicating model year 2008.
When I tap the reg into the DVLA vehicle enquiry service here: https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ or here https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app... it returns a date of first registration of 01/09/2007
Using reg and VIN HPI (real HPI, not £3 text check) returns no issues - saying VIN and reg match, and even confirming the date of first registration as 01/09/2007.
Do I:
A) receive a rational explanation (possibly from Tame Technician)?
B) flee from this as fast as my little legs go?

OK - thanks. I guess I was wondering if the VIN suggested something had been physically built in 2008, yet other documents say it was registered in 2007, thus a disconnect. Flux capacitor not withstanding (It's not a DeLorean), I'd be then worried that it was all well dodgy and I'd be buying a crooked car.
Model years do not correlate directly to calendar years. The changeover tends to be between July and September. Dates of first registration can be anything, you could register an old stock 2012MY car in early 2014 whilst current spec is 2013MY for example.
Some manufacturers also have fractional model years - Ford have .25, .5, .75 of a given year, which again don't pertain specifically to a build or registration date in the logical calendar quarter, given that dealers often have up to 360 day stocking facilities before a new car must be registered under the terms of their franchise agreement.

Glad it's easy then!
