Guys,
got one of these as a part time smoker/dog carrier and im struggling to diagnose the noise, sounds like a wheel bearing and the noise only occurs around 40mph and upwards, a low humming sound with a slight feeling through the wheel, its all pointing to a bearing but im wondering if its something more costly hence the lad wanting to sell?

many thanks

andy

Jack the car up and give the wheels a good wobble.
Funny noises scare people, especially if they have no knowledge of cars and all their mates are telling them it's this or that and it's going to cost £££'s.
It's probably just a bearing smile

Could be tyre noise even?

Check the inside edges of the tyre treads. I had something similar on a mk1 Focus years ago which I could have sworn was a bearing. Turned out the inner edge of the tread on one of the rear tyres had worn in a weird sawtooth pattern. Replaced the tyres and the noise went away. 20k later, still fine.

My MK1 Focus has Pirelli P6000's on the front, and Event something or other on the rears. The rears drone at speed. Swap the wheels over and they dont wink
