Caterham academy: first and second year questions.....

Am interested in doing the Caterham Academy: the racing and training looks reasonable value given you get the car too, but I'm wondering a few things:
(i) how family-friendly are the events - kids of 7 and twins of 5 like cars but will they be too bored?
(ii) for the second year, can my wife run the car in the Academy - she's not raced before either?
(iii) is there a second year series I can run in that won't conflict with the Academy if she's doing it - i.e. if same place same weekend they run on different starts, or run at different weekends?

And finally, anyone any ideas on the additional weekend costs - what do you need to budget for tyres, fuel, hotels, etc?
