Hi all,

I was thinking about waiting for the Fiesta ST 1.6 to depreciate over 3 years to around £8-10k but then figured why wait another year or two when there's probably an equally good if not better car already in that price range. Any recommendations for a hot hatch 3-5 years old in this sort of price range, i.e. already depreciated? I'll probably only do 3-5,000 a year in it so fuel economy not particularly an issue.

Thanks!

Mark 5 Golf GTI. Will have to be a 2006-2007 one though.

Renault Clio 200- £8k will get you a very clean 59/10plate.

Civic Type R - you'll get a 2009 for that.

I'd probably be looking for a Clio 197, preferably with the cup chassis. A decent N/A engine attached to a fabulous chassis. smile

130i for me, don't like FWD and not keen on bland blown 4-pots, so its a no brainer for me.

Would be a Clio 200 for me, without a doubt. I had a 197 before and I sorely miss it, currently got an R32 - if you can stretch your budget to 9k you'll get a goodun.

Civic Type-R would be my suggestion, given you're not too worried about fuel consumption.

Mk5 Golf GTI would be good in terms of resale, seen as you're only wanting to keep it for a short period of time. But you're looking at older cars by comparison.

So what? A couple of years older, and you get a much, much better car. Why get hung up on it being 3 to 5 years old?

….just maybe, he doesn't want a 7-8 year old car…..I get faintest of hints he wants suggestions for a car 3-5 years old.

If you are into the actual driving and not numbers and pub bragging stats, Clio 200 cup + Recaros.

Don't regret getting mine one bit, in fact I think I may go for a drive in it now....
