1993 TVR Chimaera 400.
Discussion
Thought it was about time I started a thread on my own car after snooping around everyone elses!
Ive been into older cars for a long time, done a few restorations on Escorts, Vivas, Mantas and Chevettes. Even had a few magazine feature cars. Ive grown a bit disillusioned with the whole scene, and sold my Manta 400 a while back to have a break from it.
I bought this Chimaera in march, as an MOT'd running project. It was tatty inside and out, needed paint also. But it ran and drove well, even with a mega heavy throttle and gears that were nearly impossible to find!
Initally the plan was to tidy up the paint and use it for a summer toy and do a proper resto on it over the winter, that soon changed when I had a nightmare matching the paint. The local autopaint place came along with a spectrometer and still couldnt match it I decided on a full respray changing the colour from red to Audi night blue.
Ill post some pics once I work out how to resize them!!
Scott.

Classichims, thanks, got it sorted!
I miss that manta already, was the most in depth resto Ive ever done. Bare metal, all repairs TIG welded and invisible, regret selling it every day but needs must!
All my mates were telling me I was mad, but I needed to free up some pennies for a house purchase and bought the TVR as condolence to myself!

You can't replace that mate, but you can have something just as exciting, you'll love your Tvr.
Looking good already. You'll hopefully enjoy the support and friendships on here buddy.
That Manta, what a car.
I replaced the cam on mine in the middle of winter outside with rain and wind holding around me, bit of a tarp to keep the water out, a Haynes manual and off I went. I'd over revved it wheel spinning and bent a valve!
Happy days. I had a body kit on it, factory fitted and that gold paint work. Only a 1.8 s but 5 spoke alloys and twin headlights.
I was in my early twenties and felt just fine driving that car, lol

Home again, time for some TVR time! Ive been busy flatting off the paint (gun finish wasnt great...) loads more sanding to go yet.
Ive been trying on the wheels I bought for it, still waiting on the tyres to arrive but its looking a bit tight on the front, Ill see how it goes.
The car seems to have developed a misfire during the motivational start ups, (those work wonders!) Im hoping its just plug fouling and will clear when it goes back on the road?
Im hoping to get stuck into it and get it back together and on the road before I have to go back offshore on the 9th.
I can see a problem though, I broke both mirrors removing them. Now Im pretty confident I can repair them but Ive got no idea how a normal human is meant to fit them? The grub screw is way buried down the door hole and even a really cut down allen key would be impossible?
Any suggestions?
