Which Oil....Again

I am sure this has been threaded to death, but is there a consensus on the viscosity and prefered brand of oil to use in A Vxr or similar ?

Here are the oils I use

Engine
SAE 5W30 Redline racing oil

Gear Box
Redline oil (MTL) gearbox

Diff oil
Heavy Shockproof oil from Redline
Redline friction modifier

I also use Redline Water Wetter, which reduced the surface tension of the cooling water.

The biggest change I noticed was using the Redline oil in the gearbox, bear in mind my car is over 2 years old and the oil would have been second hand. The guy’s at redline are dead helpful and give a 10% club discount.

0-40 too light ?

Been told not to use 0-40

Helpful guy at Redline recommended 0-40w engine oil for my car.
Now i am totally confused as to what to use.

I use Redline 10w40 for trips to tha Alp's and 5w30 for the rest of the year.......

"pomona" I did not know Redline made a 0w40?

It was Mark @ LSV that said not to use 0-40w fully synthetic in the LS1 so I am using 5-40w

Glancing through the LS1 forums, it suggests all sorts.

The colder the climate u live in the lighter the oil. It also suggests that if modded lighter.

However, we all seem to run different and havent had one go pop have we?

As long as changed regularly will it make that much diff ?
