Hi all,

after all the threads about coupés, estates, convertibles/cabriolets that never were, here's a more macabre take:

Hearses based on cars that you wouldn't expect.

To start off, almost all the hearses here in Luxembourg are either Mercedes Benz or Cadillacs, but I stumbled upon this a couple of days ago and it got me thinking:



Wasn't in service anymore judging from the state of the paintwork and ran on German plates, but it was... incredibly roomy in the back.

Any other spots ?

Yes the Volvo (or should that be Volvebam) was outstanding, had some very interesting design ideas. Shame I didn't have more time to take more pictures!

No pic but that Polish president killed in an air crash took his last ride in a Quadraportte hearse.

I want my last ride to be in a land rover hearse, my wife has strict instructions that I will be carried in the hearse and her and the kids will drive my series 2, as long as it is finished!

Late friend of mine asked to be taken in something fast. His coffin was ratchet strapped into the back of the Monkfish V8 UTE, followed by his jag xjr, his tvr, me in the dakar and another 20 odd tasty motors.
Ironically he was buried at the Olney green burial ground - so we should be carbon neutral in 30 odd years!

and i was the hearse driver! i didn't reach 120mph with a coffin aboard. honest.

near me in Falconwood there is a kitchen fitters please that uses one as a van

We used our brush-painted 2cv van as the hearse for a mate...




Dress code was black gaffer-tape armbands on greasy overalls for all those of us who knew him from the workshop.
