Old Skool Ford 1600 crossflow 100mm pistons ? help !
Discussion
Hi skool mates,
Just pulled my 681F block 1600 crossflow outa ma Midget. Didnt have any history wiv it tho.
Popped off the head as it's smokin' in the morning. The Bip pistons are pocketed and measure 100mm across! Nice shiny bores :-) Number on the pistons is N25 +060. Anybody shed any light on the capacity ??? googling shows 82.48mm bores give 1658cc.
My new head has 41mm / 36mm valves
32/36 Weber
No idea what cam is in it
Thinking about lightening the flywheel while its oot, will this make any noticeable difference ??

Mmm.. I'd be very surprised if the bore size is 100mm, pretty sure the bore spacing is less than that. Early blocks won't over ore very much.

Agreed, 85mm is really pushing your luck on one of these older blocks. 100mm would give you something that looked like an Audi logo.Dave
