06 CLK 500 (388) running cost and advice
Discussion
Hi,
I used to own a 03 CLK 230k and then 06 CLK 280 (this one looked great but was a bit boring!)
I am considering to buy a 2006 CLK 500, Elegance, with the 5.5L engine (388hp). Has anyone got a rough idea about the running cost, and possible issues with it?
Is it a good idea to have it checked by the AA beforehand? (it is from a private seller)
The car is less than 30000 miles. How much do you think it should be priced?
Thanks!

I have a late 2006 CLK500 Avantgarde with the 5.5 litre V8. Last night looked at the computer and over the last 9000 miles its averaged exactly 25 MPG
My mileage is a mixture of 4 mile/ 6 minute office commutes, local country road driving and longer motorway runs. On the motorway 30+ MPG is easily achievable. Never normally see less than 20MPG.
Since November 2012 have covered 23000 miles to date. No major expenses. Just a ball joint and the usual tyres plus servicing. Not too heavy on tyres. In fact, more heavy on the front outer edges of tyres (heavy engine) rather than wearing out rears.
Servicing is reasonable and not that much more than my other car (Audi TT V6) - except oil. Over 8 litres of expensive stuff!
Not the best handling car - my TT would lose it on a very twisty road. However, in a straight line the 5.5 litre will will lose an E46 M3, 996 Carrera, etc.
Debadge the car (I have) and you have a wolf in sheep's clothing!
Any other questions then just ask

Thanks or your answer. It sounds really great.
I'm not too worried about the fuel consumption. I'm wondering if the price of parts is reasonable / comparable to any other CLK, and if it's wearing off more easily.
Any idea what the asking price can be in the UK for that car for a 2006 model, under 30000 miles?
