I do not have a front number plate as IMO they spoil the look of the car.

I used to have a small number plate like some of the above until I found out that the penalty for having the wrong size plate fitted is a FPC plus 3 points, but the penalty for not having a plate fitted is a FPC but no points confused

Full size on mine.

The car had a small plate on it when I bought it, but I can't be bothered with the thought of being pulled for a non-compliant plate, so I put the standard plate back on.

3/4 size, mounted with double-sided sticky pads (as supplied with the plate).

What he said.

I found that out from a BiB some 16 years ago, I ditched the plate a few years later and ran for ~10 years without a front plate, with no issues at all. Even had a brief chat with a BiB on a petrol station forecourt...

Apparently the small plate shows intent to break the law, where as no front plate, assuming there is obvious fixing points for one, can very well be an accident/error/mistake/etc.

In reality, providing the 3/4 is a standard type face and readable, your unlikely to have trouble either way unless you get some real jobs worth.
