Which cars do you think are cool, could afford but won't buy
Discussion
E60 M5 and c5 RS6. I'd love both, but both gearboxes put me off. I'd also love an e46 m3 smg but the boot floor issue puts me off. Any 2 door impreza I'd love too but they've got to be hassle now.
I always thought the vx220 was a tart's car but I've not long bought one. Totally changed my opinion!

Citroen C6, good call. Cool comfy landyacht. Sadly they came in top spec only with the same 3.0L 208hp engine as I have in my current Laguna, but the C6 weighs over 300 Kilogramms more. Meh. Could be a awesome daily/roadtrip wafter if it had atleast the 3.5L 241hp engine from the Vel Satis in it, or some other block with more poke.

Do Citroën really share engines with Renault? And what have little dots appeared above the e, I didn't type them?

E46 M3 - not enough doors
E39 M5 - hard to find a decent one
Focus ST Mk2 - next car needs to be larger, preferably an estate
Escort Cosworth - missed my chance to buy an unmolested low mileage one owner Monte when my parents sold theirs five years ago. It still hurts.
Mk 1/2 MX5 - hard to justify a second car, nowhere to park it conveniently
All cars I've lusted over in the past, and am unlikely to ever own.

Probably a bit leftfield but a car I've lusted after since the 80s, I tried and failed to get my father to buy one, I've come close to pulling the trigger so many times.

The maintenance to value ratio has always put me off but one day I will have the balls or the stupidity as I love these cars even more so than the later Maseratis that I've been lucky to own.

Maserati Quattroporte II. I think it's cool because it's flawed. It's Front Wheel Drive (not cool, but adds to the flawed nature), it's square cut, it has that glorious 3.0 V6, oh and it has triple wipers. And not many were made.
ETA: Bugger just seen the could buy bit. One day I might be able to afford a ropey DB7. Again they are flawed, yet extremely beautiful. That or an E34 M5, for it's chiselled looks.

Do Citroën really share engines with Renault? But the C6 was available in all three specs ("base", Lignage, Exclusive) with all four engines - 3.0v6 petrol, 2.7v6 diesel, 3.0v6 diesel, 2.2 four-pot diesel. The v6 diesels were JV developed with Ford, and the same as used by Jaguar-Land-Rover TDV6, basically the TDV8 minus two pots.
