Le Mans withdrawal symptons .... last minute booking
Discussion
Whoops 'symptoms' not 'symptons'
Was meant to be missing the race this year, but as the weekend has drawn nearer I've been more and more gutted about not being there.
The last few times I've made the trip it hasn't been much of a contest for the Audis, so the lure of a decent race with the Porsches and Toyotas has become impossible to resist......
So at this ungodly hour I've just booked a hotel 20 miles from the circuit
(I usually camp on-circuit but I'm guessing its all been booked-up and I quite fancy some sleep for once!)
I've checked availability on the ferries and I'll be booking them in the morning, travelling from Portsmouth Thursday am.
I have a couple of questions:
General entrance tickets, can you just buy them on the gate?
Parking - I'd like to park on the field just behind the grandstands - does this need to be pre-booked??
My sons been itching to go too this year so he's in for a nice surprise when he wakes up. He might just happen to develop a bit of a fever Thursday/Friday which will necessitate a couple of days off school

If your son's still at school he will not require a General Entrance ticket, he will get in for free with you. General entrance tickets can be purchased at the gates, Parking Blue or parking white are the areas you need to head for, parking expo is another option near the museum.

And I thought I'd left it late. I was confirmed as going on Wed last week. I'd pretty much written off going this year, my 17th trip, so am now very excited. Thankfully my wingman had booked my car on the Tunnel a couple of months ago just in case I decided to go (he would've switched the booking to his car had I not been going) and we have a group pitch that I can join.
Roll on Thursday morning!

A couple of years ago I wasnt going to go after doing 10 years straight.
I held out until the friday night.
Booked an easy jet to paris and a train to le mans. left home at 3am to drive to luton. jumped on plane, jumped on train. got bus from station to circuit.
bought ticket on gate, and got aco memebership for somewhere to sit out of weather and use loos, etc.
had a few mates already there so hitched a lift back to london on the sunday night, crashed on mates floor for a few hours monday at 2am, having been awake since sat am.
train back to luton to pick up car and home...
managed t break the habit now, so not been for a couple of years, but run cars at the classic so still get a bit of lm fix every 2 years

The pull of Le Mans was just too strong
Just booked my ferry, 7am from Portsmouth to Le Havre Thursday morning, arrive in good time to check in to our hotel, have a swim in the 26C temps then head back to the circuit for Thursday night action - love watching from the bottom of the Mulsanne on Thursday night.
I've even had time to order some last minute stickers from Ebay, chuck them on Weds night, set off for Portsmouth about 1am Thursday morning.
I blame all the threads on here for making me have to go
