Goood Morning one and all,

My TVR has been off road for over a year now and just getting it back on track, put new battery in yesterday and now its not starting, its turning over but not starting, think that it is the fuel pump as when taken fuel pipe off the engine and turned it over, no petrol being pumped?

Any Suggestions?
Does anyone know where the fuel pump is situated?
Any help is welcome

Thank you in advance :-)

The fuel pump is down by the tank, but it's more likely to be the relay that's packed up.

Hi there, Thanks for that, how do I locate the fuel pump and do you know how I tell if the relay has packed up? The fuel injection seems to have two relays on it?
thanks for the help so far.

fuel pump is on the nearside chassis rail where the diff is.
you could check for 12v on the feed wire for the pump?

Ok the pump is located under the car round about the near side rear wheel arch.

I assume that you cannot hear the fuel pump priming?

This thread may be useful as it shows the relays, it's pretty much a case of swapping them but sometimes a wiggle and press back in can work. It's cheaper to buy a couple of relays first rather than a fuel pump

This shows the pump and filter

Thank you Fatboy and Snorky, where is the 12v feed wire for the pump?
Sorry about all the questions but I am new to all this :-)

As been said. You should be able to hear the pump priming. Contacts on fuel pump could do with a bright shiny clean up with emery paper. Fuel pump relay is the 1inch square cube in the passenger footwell jungle, in the blue socket. The other one is for the ECU, ignition etc.

There are two spade connectors on the end of the pump, you can check for 12v there. As said its a good idea to clean up the terminals.

Well I have had a fiddle with the relays and nothing(how can you tell if they are broken?
Next step, to take the rear near side wheel off and clean terminals on the pump and check for voltage.....

You should be able to hear the relays click, when you turn the ign on.

If you take a paper clip straightened out, remove the the fuel pump relay from its holder (the blue one) and connect the two connectors in the relay block where the relay pins number 30 and 87 would be (with the paperclip)then that will bypass the relay completely, the other two terminals numbered 85 and 86 are the ones that make the relay switch on the current between 30 and 87. if the pump then runs you know the pumps ok and the relay or immobiliser is at fault. Hope this helps

Thank you one and all, still not there though!!
Two new relays on and still not working :-(

Next job to take the back wheel off and have a look at the fuel pump right?
Any other tips?
Its a swine as I have to push the car from garage to neighbours four doors away to jack up!
Never mind just dreaming of the roar of the engine when I get it going:-)

Have a listen to the relays when you turn on the ignition (dont start) - two relays close together with a click- the main relay and the fuel pump relay- the fuel pump one should then drop out after a few seconds as the car is not running. If you dont hear this the fault is not the pump or wiring to the pump.

Hi Blitz, Thank you for the response.

when I turn on the ignition (and don't try to turn over) there is no clicking so do you think that it is the wiring to the relays?
I am not with the car at the moment as at work but as much expertise you can impart on me would be much appreciated :-)

Most of the advice given would be my first port of call...

Is the alarm / immobiliser working correctly? Is it switching off and allowing power to the circuits it should?

I guess it is if the engine is turning over but may be worth checking?

Hope you get sorted as there's nothing more frustrating!!!!

Also...if you're going to be messing about in the wheel arch it might be a good idea to have a spare battery (if you have one?) and some wires handy to a least check the pump works.

Just trying to think of things to help / make life easier...

Are the fuel pump relay feeds fused? If so worth checking, although a very quick google would suggest they might not be (seems odd to me although it is TVR wiring, biggrin ).

If the relays aren't clicking, then that would suggest the problem is before the relays, which would be a fuse if there is one.
