Hi guys, need a bit of advice. I am looking at getting out of the company car scheme. Might even change jobs. I need to get myself something reliable, decent quality, cheap to run and nice to look at.

I quite like the M6 Fiesta with the newer headlights and I also like the Mk7 Fiesta. They both look like nice cars that won't break the bank.

Long story short I don't know if it is better to get a HP on a Mk6 and pay it off over 4-5 years or if I should do a PCP and get the newer one? Payments work out around the same.

I need a car that is easy to sell on again if my circumstances change as well. Looking to keep my payment at £80-100p/m.

Is there a particular Fiesta that I should go for or one that I should avoid?

I was thinking the 1.6 petrol or the diesel. I am sure the 1.25 or the 1.4 won't be much good.

Hear from you soon and help to stop me buying a Jazz! smile

Petrol vs diesel should be based on your yearly mileage/ personal preference.

Both mk6 and mk7 Zetec S models are good fun cars to drive. Regarding the financing, the mk6 should be cheaper to buy though I would look for a cheap bank loan rather than HP. Again depends how much you're willing to spend, but you won't make a mistake getting either of those cars.

After owning a 1.2 mk6.5 and 1.4 mk7 I might be able to help!

Both are good cars, but the mk7 is superior in terms of comfort and refinement, whereas the mk6.5 possibly has the edge for being slightly better to drive.

Despite what reviews say go for the 1.6 or any diesel one (or that new ecoboost petrol). The 1.25 is ok, revs well and is eager, but predictably quite slow and hates hills and passengers. The 1.4 isn't a great deal better, gets frustrating at times for me! You'll be lucky to get much more than 40mpg from both as well, hence recommending the 1.6. However I live in cornwall where everywhere is uphill so this probably affects the results!

If it was me I'd be reluctant to finance a fiesta as whole as they don't really hold their value too well, but they'd sell easy enough (higher spec ones). Again I'd probably look at one of these 2 year PCP deals on a brand new one (the 1 litre Eco boost is very good so I hear). You'd get a new car warranty etc, but obviously some calculations would need to be made as to whats the best value.

Didn't realise I was such a fiesta bore! But hope it helps a bit

i currently drive a MK6 Zetec S diesel, its a blast to drive. The 1.6 tdci is a decent engine if serviced regular, they like to eat injector seals and turbos if oil changes are skipped though. Its a peugeot HDI engine so parts can be found anywhere. The ride is very nice, not harsh but not soft an boaty, its very direct and holds the road well.

Power isn't amazing as expected from a 90bhp diesel but more than adequate, Mountune do a map which adds about 25bhp and bags more torque which is said to improve the car dramatically and increase the already good MPG.

Interior is nice and surprisingly well made, the only drawback in my opinion is the drivers footwell is a tad narrow due to the large centre console. Seats are comfy and supportive too.

I haven't drove a mk7 but i do rate the mk6 very high smile

So do you think I should go for it or stump up more for a Jazz?

I'm communing in a MK7 Zetec 110 miles a day in a 1.5L diesel 70 miles a hour 59 mpg & its nippy enough around town.
I didn't want to buy one but am very pleased with it. I’d stick with the fiesta.
