Noticed steering feel was crap, car wandering all over the road especially over bumps on the left hand side. Jacked it up, there was a little play in the wheel, side to side and up & down. Thought, right. Not taking it to TVR specialist, it's only a wheel bearing.

Went along to a classic car specialist, also a piston header. Went back to take a look at the car and was told the steering rack is causing the problems along with a readjustment of the wheel bearing. He's also re-mounted the exhaust so it doesn't bang on the chassis. Just waiting on the steering rack refurb company getting back to him.

Hopefully get the car back soon. First time using a non tvr specialist but he certainly knows his stuff especially with the suspension and running gear which is common on old jaguars.

On the plus side, saw the car up on the ramps; took a few bits off around the outriggers and had a good look, it's totally solid.

Rack now being sent down to england to be refurbished. All the local places went "Ah canne dae 'aht mate". I'll get it back in 4 days. Maybe.

Anyone know anywhere that can refurb the rack if this falls through. It's a 1991 350i. I think it's a ford part?

Yes, get the rack back, put it on, and sort out the wheel bearing. Misdiagnosis.

Nah, saw the rack myself and it's in a bad state, leaking oil and a bit of play. Wheel bearing was sorted quickly and still had the same feeling to the steering when I drove it.
