Isn't auto gearbox oil normally red or as near as possible to it?

If you're worried, Honda main dealers will change the auto box fluid with ATF3 for £35 a time under their Honda Happiness scheme. I have had my Accord coupe done a couple of times at that price. It should be cherry red (at least mine is) although if yours is clear that is a good sign at least.

Nice relaxing motor the 2.3 and the type-v is the top spec iirc. It's the same engine as in the Rover 623.

Fluid usually goes brown after some time. This is what he is most likely seeing.

Same colour as mine then, also with no issues.
