Hi,

I have a tiger running a 1800 zetec silvertop with a ZX6 carbs. Can people suggest alternative options for fuel injection/ECU options.

I'm just in the very early stages of looking at the options so not committed to anything or price at the moment.

Thanks

There are a number of ways you can jump -

The most obvious - replace the carbs with bike TBs, you will possibly be able to use the manifold, this will need a new ECU and wiring (Megasquirt, omex, emerald etc.) though and probably a rolling road set up session or at least a wide band lambda. If you do not have it already you will need a high pressure fuel pump and a return line back to the tank. You will probably need a budget around £1500+, it will slightly increase power and drivability but not a quantum leap in performance. You can add a cam, gas flowed head later if you need to.

Next up is to sort the rest of the car first (unless it is already done) - full geo/corner weights set up, uprated brakes, LSD, better shocks, better tyres, lighter wheels, lightened fly wheel, close ratio gearbox etc.

Thirdly - swap the 1.8 out for a 2.0, probably the most cost effective (possibly only £250 all in if you are careful) retaining the bike carbs but you will need to get them re-jetted and set up (I have the Chester Sports cars ZX6 based kit on a 2.0l and made 165hp with loads of torque). If that is not enough, swap to a ST170 engine, possibly bigger carbs and a VCT controller (or Chester do a kit for this engine including VCT control).

Finally, if you are brave then turbo/supercharge but again will need ECu, wiring, Pump, return line, new manifold etc.

Hope that gives you something to explore.
