R170 V6 spark plug change?
Discussion
According to the USA e-brochure, V6 SLKs have a '100000 mile spark plug interval'. However, UK dealers 'recommend' that plugs (certainly for the SLK32 AMG) are changed every 4 years, regardless of mileage.
Which costs around £330 at the dealership.
I followed this advice in 2010 even though the car had done less than 40000 miles in 7 years and was running perfectly. They've just 'suggested' that it's time for another plug change, even though the car has only covered a further 25000 miles in 4 years.
I've declined their recommendation this time - but why, if the US brochure clearly states 100000 mile plug intervals, do M-B UK recommend 4 years?

In that case, wouldn't 'inspecting' rather than 'replacing' the plugs achieve the same result?
You would think so but most of the cost is labour. (I think the plugs are only a fiver each) So they may as well replace while they are at it.(BTW I think they are a P.I.T.A to get to)
