So my sale thread just got deleted. No notice. Just vanished. I assume I violated some unknown rule, but I can't find anywhere that indicates what the rules are. I thought I followed proper etiquette. What did I do wrong?

I did wonder when your post was going to get pulled. I fell foul of the rules too, when I put a link to the V8V 19' option alloys I have for sale on Ebay.
Apparently you can only sell stuff through the classified and you can't link a sale either.
Don't ask me where the rules ate, as I don't know either, but I'm sure some one will point you in the general direction.

Look towards the bottom of the page - where it says "Terms and Conditions" and "Posting Rules".

Not far to look to find the posting rules. The very bottom of this page will do it.

No.6. Post links for the purposes of advertising or personal gain (including cars for sale) or cross-post across multiple forums. If you wish to advertise please use the classifieds or contact us directly. Please note that we do not allow members to advertise their own car, nor do we allow members to post asking for valuations on their current car (please use the classifieds as a guide).

Really? You've been here for over a decade and you're wondering why a thread about your For Sale advert has been pulled?
I expect your other oh so cryptic thread will go soon, too.

No devious intent. I honestly thought it was OK to link to a page, just not put an ad directly as a thread topic. It's not like I've ever sold anything here before so you can put away your snarky comments, Impasse.

controlz has his first attempt pulled "I'm looking for a cheap V12 if anyone has one for sale" with some waffle about careful owners and stuff... when all he really wanted to do was avoid the dealer margin. His second attempt was a bit more subtle but we managed to take it off topic smile

Its a bit of a shame when you've been around for a long time, its less so when you sign up for the purpose without any foreplay

Bless - so sensitive. Well here's some constructive advice. As you've been here forever, you'll get a free advert in the Classifieds. Use it and put a link to your sales website in the ad along with all the usual spiel. It would be worth adding the website url to your profile too.

There.

Please educate me. Don't the two bolded statements contradict one another? I must not be able to understand English any more...

I can't help with your English comprehension, I'm afraid. However, I suggest that you read the full posting rules. If you still have a problem with them, I suggest that you take it up with the mods. smile

As the rules are referring to the forum I think its ok as the no advertising refers to this and not the web site as a whole (might need to head over to the legal/plod/law section or one of the resident legal guys to comment).

But equally, if anybody wants me to advertise their car for them, PM me.. for a beer I can advertise a car so long as its not mine smile

ps.. the last bit was a joke. My fees are much higher than a beer!

PH should have made an exception as the car is for sale in the US, not PH's principal market!

So why all the boo-hooing that his advertorial website had been removed from, er, Pistonheads? Jeeze, some people are precious. Is this just an Aston trait?
