Hey folks, I'm new to posting on this although I have spent a fair amount of time reading ph for years. My situation is I have always been into cars and I have been driving myself nuts trying to think of something I could possibly change my wife's car to. She currently drives a 2006 mini one and I have been thinking of changing it for a while but haven't got round to it. Not wanting to spend a fortune of money (5-6k), needs to get 40+mpg, under 80k miles, not really boring. I had been interested in mr2, mx5, e46 soft top, possibly small 4x4, something fun. She looks after her car really well and is not into cars but is car proud. She is into car image however lol. Problem is she has just been told she's pregnant. :-s So need some help here folks

A focus or any medium sized hatch? Then save the rest for the baby

If she's going to want to keep it after the baby is born, probably something at least Fiesta sized, Focus sized would be better.

Firstly congratulations!! (I hope its yours).

You're gonna need something tallish, not a sportscar or she will have problems getting in and out of it.
My ex-wife had a 318ti sport compact when she was pregnant. It was perfect until she gave birth. Then she needed something with 5 doors. It's far more practical when you have a small child.

I'd be trying to get her interested in something hot hatch and 5 doors.

Golf Gti? Megane renaultsport?

edit; mpg ooops

yes My wife didn't much like the Elise when she was pregnant, although she did use it once or twice. Any "normal" car is OK though, there's no need to go for an SUV.

Thanks for the input guys. I hate the idea of a focus, Astra etc. I think the velostar might be interesting, love the idea of an Alfa. I have a new insignia estate so if 3 of us are out that can be used but I have wrecked my brain trying to think of any thing that I might like... Sorry she would love that isn't a 3 series soft top.

I assume it's mine, if not I'm scrapping the whole idea and putting more money into my v8 projects :-)
