4.2 inlet heat barriers

Hi
Has anyone got any heat barriers they are willing to part with.
Mine are starting to crack and I'm trying to eliminate any possible air leaks before I take it in to joolz for some remapping work in a couple of weeks.

I would nt put second hand ones on.

The heat barriers for the 4.2 and 4.5 are the same.

Just buy some new ones from any good TVR suppliers

Edit to add....I've got 3 second hand sets, but I wouldn't fit them on my ajp

Likewise - I have a couple of second hand sets kicking round in the box to go to the tip - but they aren't fit to go near an engine. Fit new.

I fitted new, dont forget to buy the 16 o-rings aswell and the slue silicone to put them in with, the name of which escapes me !

Are you sure about using a sealant such as Hylomar with a rubber O ring? Surely, the whole purpose of the O ring is that it is a seal in its own right?
I can understand using Hylomar with a paper type gasket but my training did not permit any sealant be used with O rings.

The thermal barriers will be zip-tied onto the inlet manifold and hylomar is used to hold the o-rings in place on the underside while you lower the manifold onto the heads.

Yes, I see mine are tie-wrapped to the manifold but using a sealant or similar product on an inlet manifold could lead to particles being drawn into the engine by the partial vacuum.

an alternative is to use a thin smear of red rubber grease in the O ring recesses to hold the O rings in place before they are bolted down.

I've just removed one side to take alternator out, i can see why hylomar is used as the O rings on the underside do fall off and lining it all up when putting it back on would otherwise be impossible. I cant get my head round the cable ties. each inlet has six bolts, shouldn't this compression hold the heat barrier in place?

The cable ties are just to hold the barriers with O rings in place onto the bottom of the inlet manifold while you maneuver it into place.
