Hi,

I wondered if there was any Rolls Royce employees who work in the Supply Chain as either a Buyer or similar position, as I'm keen to work for them but unsure if I'm likely to be suitable based upon my current position.

I'm currently a Project Manager for a construction company and manage multiple construction projects/ budgets and have line management responsibility for 23 staff. I'm responsible for the preparation and formalisation of procuring these construction projects which generally range from £50k - £2m.

Do you think that I'd be considered based upon my existing position? I'm concerned that the construction industry has a poor image generally and am worried that this may be an issue.

I wondered what sort of work history 'Buyers' held or from which industries.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have contracted in Derby, and come into contact with that sort of people.
I'll email you something, but have you looked on their Website? They have a lot of permanent jobs advertised.

If it's contracting you need to contact EKES Ltd, Asssystem, and Alexandermann Solutions.

They've pretty much got it sewn up as far as I can tell.

Hi Pit Pony - if you could email me any information it would be very much appreciated.

I keep my eye on their website and have noticed a lot of the positions that seem the best fit, are generally within the supply chain. My existing role is very much focused on cost management, negotiating etc, so feel it's something I'd be successful at.

I've never even considered contracting - do you think that there might be opportunities in that regard based upon my existing skill set (I appreciate you know very little into my skills and experience).

Thanks again for the information, it's appreciated.

Hi m7 atw. I don't personally but the company I work for has a small contract with them. I can try and get some contacts if your interested. Not sure if I should name the company I work for but they aren't a huge company but do offer a wide range of services in the construction industry, overseas as well.

Eggchaser - thanks for the kind offer.

I'm going to apply for jobs that look suitable as and when they're advertised, but I was trying to assess what sort of background and experience successful applicants had.

I would hope/imagine that positions within the Supply Chain would come from a fairly broad range of industries, but was a bit concerned that the construction industry might not be one of their preferred choices. I'm sure it's probably assessed on the strength of the applicants CV, however, I'm aware there's a stigma surrounding people involved in construction.

Thanks Eggchaser.

Just out of interest, what sort of construction related work does your company complete for Rolls?

I will be honest, I don't know much about the contract they have with them. The supply project management to them and have a student apprenticeship scheme with them.

That's all I can say with out asking questions I'm afraid.

I'm there at present, and only bit of advice is to ensure you put the hyphen in the name. They get very uptight about that smile
