stolen stereo, keyfob won't work
Discussion
Well something I hav'nt worried about for years happened last night, some theiving scumbag ripped my new head-unit out and made off with it.
Its the first case I have heard of here, but a symptom of a growing city I guess.
Trouble is I now can't lock the doors or open boot using the key fob, batteries are fine. Light on top of the door opening knob is also out and this does not operate lock either.
I'm not sure if this is a fuse issue or a wiring harness damage problem, i will check the bible when i get home but does anyone have any ideas what to check for?

How have you got on?
Coach had a similar problem a while ago with his.
Alarm worked but doors did not lock / unlock.
It turned out to be the lock control module (from memory he got a replacement for about £12) which is a blue box about the size of a cigerette packet which is located at the right hand of side of the dashboard (you have to take the dash top off to get to it).
Straight unplug - plugin replacement.

I am going to get at the relays and module on top, the dash has to come off even to trace the wiring which is a pain.
Was just checking out the fixings on the dash when noticed the clutch master cylinder is leaking... so the job just got 10 times harder
Fortunately am on way to UK tomorrow night so shall be stocking up on parts ready for a christmas under the dash.

thanks
Not sure the actual colour name, i've no paperwork or anything with the car, is the colour on the vin plate, if so I will go and look.

chances are its a fuse its quite common to blow fuses after stereos are pinched wiring gets shorted as theif cuts the wires (experiences as a mechanic not car thief)
Dave
Was my first though too but I looked in the bible and the only fuse that seemed related was also linked to the indicators which seem to work fine, so not sure. The clutch master cyl issue means it needs some serious attention anyway so I will attack it when I get back.
