I read in Autocar today, a multi-page article about the forthcoming Aston Martin models. I understand the magazine does have a good relationship with AML, so one could speculate about 'drip-feeding'.

Most of the article content matched the suggestions that have already been put forward on this forum. DB9 to be the first new model (deliveries probably 2017), followed by V8V / V12VS replacements, then Vanquish, all to have AML chassis. Less similarity between models. AMG 4 litre V8 twin turbo etc.

One point that may be new to us, is that the SUV plan aqppears to have been dropped. The present funding (debt) is probably tight for even three new models, so financials together with the fact that 'everyone' seems to be proposing or making an SUV, is perhaps why the idea would be dropped.

The disguised four door saloon Rapide that was shown on this forum was mentioned in Autocar. Not quite sure what conclusion was reached about that, but I think it has already been mentioned on here, that in China they do like big saloons. A saloon version of the Rapide, might not be too costly to introduce as a model option.

[I don't know why the 18 symbol is showing on the index page. Cannot make it go away.]

Read the same article.A few thoughts struck me.
1.Read a bit like Bahar's vision for the brave new world of Lotus !Personally I had no issue with his thinking but you need a lot of cash to deliver that sort of model line up.Not convinced that Aston has access to sufficient funds at present.
2.Would I want an Aston with a mercedes engine ?
3.Build quality and performance should improve dramatically.
4.Styling is critical to keeping spirit of Aston alive.I liked the image of future DB9 that illustrated the piece.
5.Is there a place in the automotive world for a minnow building beautifully styled low volume GT cars.
5.V12V looking more and more like a future classic.
What do others think ?

I hate to say this but AML lost their way with the launch of the new Vanquish. Its not a great car, poor inelegant styling, a tacky interior and not a great drive. The new models need to look and drive beautifully to succeed

Whilst Ferrari have also forgotten what a beautiful car is, they do limit their range even with higher sales volumes. So AML should spend their small resource on a replacement Vantage and DB9, with spin off specials of each; Zagato, One-77 etc

Just my thoughts and yes, the V12V is destined for greatness!
