Ahead of purchasing a M3 I have been considering extra security besides my disc lock.

Trackers are an option and from my internet research three companies seem to stand out. However, I haven't found any clear comparison reviews and opinions are scant.

Does anyone have any experience good or bad with any of these companies / and their devices?

I am happy to take PMs if anyone does not wish to reveal they have a tracker.

Thanks all.

My outgoing e92 m3 has a tracker tracker and also a secondary coded alarm. To be honest aside from original set up which a garage did for me I've had no dealings with company. You could argue that's a good thing as no-one tried to nick it!

The secondary coded immobiliser has been good apart from two occasions where I disabled the car!

Peace of mind I guess but I don't know how the company would have handled an incident.

Think most have Tracker fitted and you pay an annual subscription fee to keep it live. Unsure how much but about £120 rings a bell.

Tracker Retrieve costs £124 annual subscription its the most basic system based on UHF/VHF

The better systems will use GPS and telematics as well.

I have paid about £124 a year for Tracker on my 993...this year they offered a lifetime subscription for £250 ish... I am happy with that although I do wish they had offered it ten years ago when I started wink

Personally, it's never made sense to me to get a tracker.
- Costs more per year than it reduces my premium by.
- Why would I want my car back after a joy rider has spanked it (or damaged it), rather than just getting a payout?

I wouldn't bother, now that I know they can be either jammed and/orfound & removed by criminal gangs in seconds. Much better off getting (cheap) GAP insurance through ALA.

Had a tracker fitted to my 1st M3 as I felt slightly 'on edge' driving it but you soon get used to it. Cost £350 I think.
