The C63 effect
Discussion
I never got that parcel today, but did get this;

Last week, I saw a group of 10 year old kids hanging around the local leisure centre, "Listen to this AMG C63 start, it's sick!" one said to the others. My 10 year old daughter was impressed, "What did they mean?" she asked me.
I see people winding down their car windows a lot when they see me, so they can hear the V8 growl as I go past.
Today, three teenagers with fishing tackle saw me crawling out of a carpark, "Give it some!" shouted one.
I thought pretty much all would think it was another 220 CDi, how wrong I was.
I have never had the pleasure of owning a vehicle with so much character.

Good to hear that you get the same comments. I've been really surprised at the positive comments the car gets, from people coming to chat at the petrol station, "bet you come here often!", to kids at my daughters school coming over to chat when I'm waiting to pick her up if I've managed to get back on a Friday. I've had someone shout " give it the beans" when I've been in town and some really nice comments from peeps out on a supercar run. But I've had a couple of w

I pulled up alongside a C220 yesterday and floored it just..... Because I could. The guy and his wife pulled up along side grinning and put there window down both shouting do it again that sounds amazing.........so in true Good Samaritan style I did.
Like you say you get the occasional negative hand gesture......more jealousy or green peace lovers than anything else.

Agree with all of the above but I wish stupid f
king pedestrians and dog walkers would stop associating noise with speed
I've had several recently deciding that as my car was making such a racket I must be going too fast - news flash - I wasn't (I just like being a child and making a lot of noise in the lower gears because I love the sound). So they can stop standing in the middle of the road waving their arms at me and concentrate on what they are doing. If they've got that much interest then join the police and catch me with the speed gun - oh wait a minute, you won't because I am not f

Agree with RGW2012, but it's the Mrs in my case
Get it everytime I even attempt to hold gears, overtake, or in a tunnel.
I raised a post earlier, regarding the same subject, the C63 is on another level completely.

I a year of ownership I did not have any good comments or people aske me to "Give it some!"
I did find that odd, but in the week I have had the Cayman; two people have come up and spoke to me about the car.
Did they ask 'where's the rest of the 911?' lol Only kidding.I did find that odd, but in the week I have had the Cayman; two people have come up and spoke to me about the car.
I get mixed reception on the roads. Lots of negative gestures from the 'Norm's the name, sensible's the game' types, and the older generation. I get a lot of positives from younger people, especially young women, late 20's and early 30's. No idea why. Kids generally like it too. I did have the car spat on whilst driving through Ringwood last year. That was a bit odd.

Sorry for going off topic but What do you reckon to the Cayman compared with the C63? I've just made the switch the other way.I did find that odd, but in the week I have had the Cayman; two people have come up and spoke to me about the car.

I have the new Cayman S, not sure which one you had. But this is a far more complete car, more comfortable, far better handling and much nicer inside with better build quality than the Mercedes. Do I miss the C63? Yes, who wouldn't. Do I regret the swap? My only regret is not buying a Porsche earlier.
The C63, as epic as it is, can be a one trick pony by comparison; but what a trick it performs!

I had the 987 Cayman S. It was a fantastic car to drive and it gave me a much greater thrill than the C63 does when driving fast on a twisty road. The steering on the Cayman is the best I've experienced, you know exactly where that car is at any time and you know exactly what its doing. The C63's steering is good but its not Cayman good. As you have said, the Cayman is a much better handling car, but then I never expected the C63 to rival it for that. The Cayman was confidence inspiring whereas I feel like the C63 needs treating with kid gloves at times.Do I miss the C63? Yes, who wouldn't. Do I regret the swap? My only regret is not buying a Porsche earlier.

I like the seats on the C63 and they are much better than the standard sports seats that my Cayman had however I wish I could make them go lower. I feel like I am sat up high in the C63, "on" the car rather than "in" it.
My Cayman was a bit of a money pit. I have a brand new C63 so its covered my MB warranty and I will not miss the shoddy reliability of the Porsche one bit. Its a myth that Porsche make reliable sports cars. At least in my experience thats the case.
I hope you enjoy it and I am sure at some point I will return to that other suburb of Stuttgart

I'm someone who will drop my windows anytime I see a C63, a few times on a D/C the owner has presumably noticed and given it the beans as they've driven past :-)
I've got an R32 golf atm with a milltek exhaust and know the feeling with kids asking me to give it some. I've owned two and got alot more attention in my blue one, this one is grey and flies under the radar unless I'm giving it some!
I start a new job in January and will be able to afford a facelift C63 in about a year from now, posts like this are making me wish my life away :-)

I had a family looking at mine today when I came back out of B&Q. The woman was on the phone and I jokingly said "looks like you're reporting me!", her response... "I'm working out a way I can steal it!" The whole family waited for me to give it the beans as I drove off. Great feeling!
I also nearly gave an old man a heart attack, I hadn't noticed him behind when I started it!

I was thinking I've never had that and lo behold I got it twice today - I didn't go above thirty and this woman pedestrian was signalling me to slow down. I suppose a secondary decat doesn;t help.

Actually makes me smile when old Jazz driving flids flash me when I overtake... it doesn't surprise me when I am doing a 2nd or 3rd gear redline gear change with the huge crack of the exhaust HAHAHAHAHAHA
I get lots of people wanting me to blip the throttle or chasing me with the windows down to hear it and I am always happy to share, the noise is amazing and i wish I could follow one haha
