I can't seem to find an answer to what I think is a straight forward question.....which probably means it isn't that simple, but here goes.....
I need to put a telly in the lads bedroom, it'll be connected to an Xbox 360.
I don't want to connect it to our current sky package as he only watches Cartoon Network anyway, there is a wifi router in the next room, what do I need to buy give him basic TV?
Want the simplest setup possible, not keen on having to have a freeview arial fitted or running the cables for freesat.
If I put a 'smart' TV on the wall will he have access to some cartoons of some description, if I go on to my sky menu there is loads on the 'catch up' screen, is this the same as catch up TV on a smart TV?
Feel really out of touch with current Tech and just want something simple with out any monthly subscriptions for a low use TV in a kids bedroom.....it seems simple but can't bring myself to face the spotty staff in Currys until I know a bit more about what can and can not be done. rolleyes

If you don't want to wire up either satellite or freeview then you're rather limited. All you can do is use whatever apps the TV has for viewing TV catchup, youtube etc. There'll be no live TV. Just try an indoor aerial, depending where you are it might be strong enough. Put it this way, it'd probably be cheaper to get an aerial installed and buy a non-smart TV than to buy a smart TV on it's own smile

Or buy a second hand non-smart TV, and use the SkyGo on the Xbox 360 to give him his cartoon network fix through that.

Mind you, if he's only watching cartoons, he's young - does he really need a TV in his bedroom?

We used to wire his PS2 up to a computer monitor that also allowed DVD's to be watched as well, but it was quite small and treating him to an 'upgrade' wink
SkyGo sounds like it might be worth looking into, no idea how that works though, I wouldn't know how to turn the XBox on. confused

Xbox360 has lots of apps available, I'm sure they will be plenty

I think my best option is to nail the TV to the wall and get him to sort it out, he's nearly 12, got much more chance of sorting it out than I have. rofl

I'm pretty sure tablets will be needed at some point, probably Tramadol. wink
