Anyone had it done by Lotus, Hangar111 or anyone else?

Would like my alcantara refreshed in the new year and just pondering how the hell I'm gonna do it? Guess it only takes a day or so to do but I'm guessing I can't just unbolt the thing and send it in...
a) 'cos I'm a mechanical numpty, and
b) 'cos it'll need proper alignment to make sure the thing steers straight when it goes back on.

Tim do you mean the central hub or the whole wheel?

I had the central hub trimmed in alcantara by Elise parts. You just pull yours off (F'nar) and post it to them and they send you back a nice trimmed one. Took about a week IIRC and was about £25.

Hi Tim,

If it's just the centre, that will come off seperate and you could continue to use the car. Even if it's the whole wheel, it sits on a splined shaft so as long as it's straight when you remove it and the wheels are straight then if you put it back on straight everything will be fine.

Removing the wheel is one bolt to undo btw

Thanks lads - it's the rim I want re-trimming (fnarr fnarr) the centre's fine.

So any good instructions (pref with pix) that I can follow to get this off and away to 111 then? Gonna be wierd having the thing parked on the street outside with no wheel!

Yes, don't tug too hard or it'll hit you in the face...

dont know where abouts you are in kent but if near maidstone give dave martin a bell on 0781 4025788 he worked at maidstone sports running their trim shop until a few weeks ago and has set up on his own now - top class work and may even be able to do it while you wait..
