Hi Guys,

I am in market to buy a car +50k.

we are couple and occasional friends and family visiting us. We need 4 seats, don’t care if the back seat
are not big or less space, happy with xkr back seats.

Cars could be 1 to 2 years old with 10k millage, one if the point important too is how much car will depreciate in 2 years.

I am lookign at cars:
Jaguar XKR
Jaguar XFR
Jaguar owners please let me know what key things I will miss if I go from XKR to XFR _____

Merc C63 AMG
BMW 6 series

Please shed some lights on the above choices pro and cons especially where i will be if i want to change car in 2 year again and if there is any better option/car available.

£50k will see you in a new XFR if you negotiate the right deal.

So the main concern is depreciation because you want to change in 2 years?

I think the best thing to do is just to solicit dealers and lease websites to see what deals you can get.

An XK's rear seats are not useable - by the way. You either need a saloon car or to just dismiss the idea of occassionally giving someone a lift in the back.

The reason I am asking for depreciation is to make my mind for worst case scenario .. i.e 6K each year or more

Again I love XKR looks (test drive tomorrow) is it true the back seats are completely use less!!!!!

XFR is ticking all the boxes except the looks, and bit of the interior lacking the waoo factor

Now C63 ... any comments ... The look is not dying for, I am sure ride will be as good(may be better) than XFR, but how much i will lose in 2 years , again it just to make my mind

BMW 6 series = recently they drop the prices unto 22k on new models and i don't know why ....

So how about one of these?

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/j...

It handles great, is quite fast and looks a bit different to the standard XFR. It's certainly more of a driver's car.

If you need it to be a four-seater then the XKR is out, sorry to say. Which is a shame, because it's still a beautiful car, and it's very good to drive.

XFR is excellent, although it kind of feels its weight at times, and I was disappointed with the interior. You get the supercharged V8 though, which is a lovely engine.

BMW 640 prices are down because there's a manufacturer incentive on them, and dealers are discounting to shift stock. The 640GC is a very handsome car, with superb ergonomics and internal systems (ICE/satnav/driving controls). But it's a bit bland.

C63 coupe has usable rear seats, but it's considerably smaller than your other cars. C63 saloon would be a better bet, for greater rear headroom and accessibility. I've driven the coupe, and it's hilarious. The engine seems to have an insatiable appetite for misbehaviour.

All of the cars in your list have been around for a while now, with the possible exception of the BMW. It should therefore be possible for you to review depreciation levels by searching for used cars of equivalent ages. I suspect though that depreciation will be hefty for all of them, because they're thirsty leisure vehicles. I'd be surprised if there was more than a few percent of difference between them all however.

First of All thank you so much for all the replies!!!!

OK Drove C63 and BMW ... still with Jaguar so wont talk about it.

My Experience Over the Weekend Drives

Drove XKR and XFR and XFR-S

XFR and XFRS both were very good, but cant take my eyes off XKR.
My wife and myself are not tall I am 5'7 and wife is 4'11. Myself and wife swap the back seat place one by one and did the test drive.
We drove XKR (white convertible) with dealer sales man who was defiantly very tall, and we were all right for the journey. well i cant say it was very comfortable as comapred to any big saloon but hey you have space to check-in

Than drove XFR (again NO to XFR so leave it)

and than XFRS (This was good, very good) very fast, good space for 4 people but again cant beat looks of XKR.
One thing which I missed in XFR and XFRS is the quality ... quality of interior. Looks like the dash board and seat controls were made in hurry, too plastic. The XFR and XFRS have meridian speakers surround sound but no way that can beat B&W speakers of XKR

Difficult .. ...

OK one question please I know GilesGuthrie said that i can look at car sale websites to check how the car is depreciating but as NOW IT IS A SPECIAL CASE WITH XKR THAT JAGUAR IS GOING TO STOP PRODUCTION ... what you guys wise mind think that how this will affect the depreciation of XKR and XKR-S even, with such an iconic car i think the depreciation should stay the same!!!

You can never tell what will happen with depreciation.
Before going Jag I used to have a Celica GT4, when the new model came out and was much more expensive than the out going model the second hand values jumped up to match. I wasn't complaining, I sold my ST185 back to the main dealer for the price I'd paid for it about 2 years earlier.
