I'm hoping to go to Zolder next week for the TVR NL event (which I highly recommend) but I currently have no working t'stat. I've ordered two from different suppliers, but neither have arrived. I've tried calling RG many times with a view to collecting in person, but they seem to be to busy to answer their phones.

So my question is - can anyone lend me a V8 t'stat? I'll be very happy to return or replace at your discretion.

That is exactly the insurance policy I need, thank you so much.

Obviously I'd rather not have to use it, but my God it feels good to know it's there. Thank you.

I also have a working thermostat if you get stuck which is still connected to my old water hoses. Well it was working when I took it out about 8 months ago. I can always test it with a pan of water to make sure if you need it.

Hi Paul,

You can have my old one. It's down at APM in a box of other bits, but I'm making my weekly trip down on Sat. So long as Andy is there I can grab it, I can drop it off on my way home.

Huge thank you to Steve. I compared his t'stat and mine in a pan of water as it cooled. Although mine did open fully when boiling, as it cooled mine closed much earlier. I didn't have a thermometer though.

Car now runs about 5 deg cooler than before the old rad sprang a leak, and the engine overheated. I'm guessing that's due to the t'stat rather than the new rad. I haven't checked with the diagnostics yet, but I think the engine is probably running at 85 deg now, rather than 90 deg before.

I don't appear to have done any obvious damage to the engine when it overheated, even though I managed to loose at least half the coolant. Why didn't TVR connect the coolant level sensor in the expansion tank? Why? It's tempting to try to use the ice warning circuit, not least because my car is a fair weather car only.

I keep meaning to use that sensor. I've connected with leads into the cabin but haven't added the the warning divide yet.

Aide has sent me so info on using the coolant level sensor in conjunction with a delay timer and piezo buzzer. The timer is needed to prevent false warnings when cornering.

Bizarrely my car now seems to run a little cold when cruising. The gauge says 81, but the diags report that this is actually 76.

Should I be concerned?
