death and creation of towns......

I've noticed something. Towns generally appears where 2 or more roads intercept. From history these are typical and best places for settlements to appear. However, and I speak with respect to Hull, the local council don't like cars, so are doing everything to impede the use of them, short of banning them. Unfortunately, the people with the cars tend to be the ones with the money (a small generalisation, people with money don't have cars as well, but not as many as those without money who don't ! ??? - or something!)
So what do we see, shops close. Apart from the pound shops, chip shops, and now christmas cheap tat shops.
Othere shops are here as well of course, but the number of shutters going up is getting larger.
And then over on the M62/M1/M621 junction, you have a town in it's own right getting established. Great motorway access, plenty of parking, and the place prospers.
Soon there will be flats, and other living accomodation, and there you have it!, a new town.
Hull decays thanks to the council hating cars, police doing everyone for speeding etc, and this trading park is on the up and up.
They will realise at some point. Or they won't.

Yes, I had a blinding flash of inspiration the other day. About 30 million ppl want to drive cars in this country. So why don't we actually cater for them?

Yes, but there's 60 million inhabitants and somehow even drivers are willing to vote for their own deaths. Talk about turkeys and Christmas....
