So the other week some B2's came over, now it seems some B-52's have come too. I saw the BBC story here at work so no sound unfortunately.

I wonder, seeing as they are here, if they will fly at RIAT? Assuming they stay long enough.

I would wait and see what happens in Iraq before I get too upset.

B-52s were at Fairford before the B2s arrived.

Two of them have just flown over my House in Gkoucester - clearly on finals into Fairford.

Quite noisy, very smoky & an awesome sight.

interesting.. they are not listed on the lineup for RIAT ...

Now .. US puts a Carrier group in the Gulf and then move 2x B2's and 2xB52's within striking range...

if I was a betting man ... sonar

I saw those two, from the M4. Looked very sinister from a distance.

They flew directly over my house. Very very imposing. Dark & quite menacing. They just look angry.

An awesome sight as they lumbered across the sky.

Another awesome view of the B52 as it lumbered over Gloucest just after 6.15pm as it dropped in to Fairford.

Angry, dark & menacing.

They look very angry when taking off from Fairford with a full war load of bombs visible hanging off the wing pylons. A sight not forgotten by me from seeing it back in 1991.

I know - got photos somewhere of a couple of them leaving Fairford fully tooled up. an incredible, if somewhat scary, sight.

I was on the ground at the 'other end' of those trips. I remember watching the contrails high above us, the distant sound of bombs exploding, and the warm glow of fires burning on the horizon. I never saw them close up (thankfully) but was always glad they were on our side wink

A commercial pilot acquaintance of mine told me it was an unreal sight following them down the European air corridors on their way to make their deliveries!
