My newly renovated 3.2 Carrera
Discussion
Finally after 13 weeks in the workshop and over 1200 miles cycling the 21 miles to and from work, the car for all occasions is finally back in my possession.
A lot of new metal let into the 1989 body and the glass out renovation included repainting inside the wheel arches, treating the underside and a shed load of all new OE exterior trim. The Fuchs alloys were stripped, polished (crucially reanodised) and repainted. As about as expensive as all new replicas, but of course the original Porsche alloys, weigh much less.
This example was amongst the very last of the hand built, classically styled, air cooled 911's and from the last few days of production, hence the G registration.
I'd almost forgotten how lovely it is to own and how precise it is to drive. A gem and I love the cool retro image than you don't get with the more modern stuff.

All the panel gaps look just right. Lovely job, who did the work out of interest, Bruce at Sportwagen ?
No, Richard Hodson Cars of Melton Mobray, who I have used before. It is a genuine no accident ever car, so panel gaps are factory tight, which mirrors the standard of excellence throughout the car.Edited by graemel on Friday 13th June 21:11
And it's my daily driver...
PS To anyone aspiring to a G50 911, I'd say buy now if you have the choice. I truly believe this is the last time you'll see them at these prices. It's vastly underrated and finally the market is realising that. Not quite as nimble as a 2.7 RS, but with similar power to weight ratio, people are realising its a similarly capable car. But seek out the coupe if you possibly can: it's the best or all worlds.
