Pinarello on EBay - Views?

I found this on eBay and have been messaging the seller but it's been a real to and fro job getting information out of him, replies of only a few words, only answering certain questions unless pressed.

Obviously the main thing with a Pin is whether it's a copy. He refers to the barcode when I ask him but has no other paperwork or registration info which seems strange if he's owned it from new. He wants 3k for it which given the build spec seems a good buy.

I'm tempted but he's really not inspiring me as a seller

It's not worth 3 grand. I'm also sceptical that it's only a year old.

- Old model Dogma - discontinued more than a year ago
- DA 7900 Groupset - discontinued more than a year ago
- Crappy wheels - relatively.

It might be worth £2500 but in reality it's probably the wrong (right?) side of 2.

ETA the first and second sales don't really add up either. Although I'd take some comfort from the fact he's put his mobile number on there. First question would be "Is collection ok?".

Much loved one year old bike, same bike, same barcode, sold by two different sellers. First add seems to have attracted zero interest, yet caims to be relisted due to 'time wasters'.

To top it all off, we have another (different) Pinarello pictured against the exact same background that was found elsewhere on the net.

I'm not keen. It's all too fishy for me. My feeling is that either the bikes are not genuine Pinarellos, or the source of the bikes is not legitimate. Either way, you're not going to get access to manufacturer or official importer support if things go wrong. Personally speaking, I'd leave it.

Agree, the guy was just too cagey in his replies. If I were selling it I would be as helpful as possible with information. Also if I'd spent a few k on a new pinarello and lovingly cared for it I would have also lovingly cared for the original paperwork. One of my question was - was it supplied by a uk dealer and do you have the original registration and sales documents ....reply "No I don't"
At that point I was out the door

Good man! It's a lot of cash to splash, so you really want to have peace of mind that it's the real deal AND supported/traceable by official channels.

I've got a bike you can have if you're still looking. All the original paperwork with it too...

This is what I noticed. It has the same wheels as my Trek 1.1 which cost £550. Plus the wheels look a lot older than mine which I brought last year.

There is someone on Bikerader selling a Pin that was used by Chris froome in the TDF if you really want one. Was won in a online competition and there selling it as its to big for them. All the money is going to charities to.

It occurs to me reading this thread that I've not received any paperwork with either of my last two bikes!

Both would be easy to prove provenance on, as they were both bought on C2W vouchers, but even so, it never occurred to me to ask!
