Edinburgh Restaurants

After the success of last years Valentine's meal recommendation I thought I would try again for a slightly different occasion.

Looking for somewhere nice but relaxed. To give an idea, there'll be 8 friends who enjoy good food but still want to be able to have a laugh and drink too much wine without being a nuisance to anyone!

Any thoughts?

Martin Wishart in Leith is very good.

The whiski rooms on the mound. They have a private bit. The wine list is pretty good too. Not quite as extensive as the whisky list though

Whighams in the west end is good too. Book one of the cellars and its yoursfor the night. The wine list is good.

Indigo yard if you want to do alfresco dinning.

I ate in Mothieths a couple of years ago, and thought it was excellent. I would definitely eat there again if I was back in Edinburgh.

Recently visited a restaurant I had never heard of on the Royal Mile called Wedgewood. Good food, great service and we drank too much wine but no-one seemed to mind.

For something a bit more laid-back, either of the Vittoria restaurant branches are excellent. The food is superb, the service attentive, and the atmosphere is great fun. There's either George IV Bridge or Leith Walk, and both are equally good, I'd say.

If you're into gastropubs, Nobles on Constitution St in Leith is hard to go past. Absolutely fantastic food and relaxed atmosphere.
