Newby here; any suggestions for a mum bus with presence

Hi there, I hope I might be able to pick your collective brains.

I need a new mum bus/family car which is probably the most soul destroying car search I've ever done. I do at least 250 miles a week so I need something seriously economical, but I also want something different. If I see one more c max I'll scream.

I'm looking at a volvo v50 and a newish focus but neither are particularly inspiring. The only thing I've loved is a honda fr v but it's too costly to run.

What would you guys be leaning towards? Budget us about 10k btw.

Looks perfect! But yes, maybe a tad thirsty!

Well I use an F150 - 5 seater and a dodge Ram 6 seater for family duties - bit more presence than a C max - economy 12mpg but effectively 24mpg due to lpg.

If you like the FRV then I suggest you fit LPG to one - you'll get your LPG installation money back inside a year

I've heard good things about Octavia TDI, in terms of economy ,but if dual fuel ticks a box, there's a few Vauxhall dual fuel cars to choose from .

We use a Jeep Cherokee KK CRD, fuel economy isn't that bad (average 28-35mpg)

Ooh the Avantime looks funky! I'm currently trying to convince my OH that an impreza is a sensible family car...

Interesting thoughts about lpg conversion, I hadn't considered that at all. Does anyone know how much it costs?

Depends where you go but for a decent kit £1200-1500 for a 4 cylinder

Alfa 159 2.0 JTDM Sportwagon?

Looks stunning and if its a family bus the fact its not a class leading car probably wont matter, yet shouldn't make you feel like you want to start self harming due to being incredibly dull.

MPG is stated at 52 for the 170bhp, 55 for the 136bhp, not sure if youll get that, nor any Idea about the cars reliability or running costs, but in black I think the 159 is the best looking saloon on the road.
