Lastminute Liverpool Stag Party for OAPS? HELP

Last week a mate decided to get married in 4 weeks time. As such it's all a bit of a rush and the Stag party is next weekend. Stag is 40 but the party will consist 16 blokes of an average age between 40 and 65.
I've not lived in Liverpool for 20 years and even those who do live there don't really go out in town much. There are some complications - the party can't start until 7:30pm and the Stag hates restaurants, so karting and a nice meal is a none starter and will not be entertained.
I'd suggested the Bierkeller, but it's fully booked. A comedy club was also suggested, but not being able to talk to each other is not that appealing. Anyone got any suggestions for something other than trawling Concert Square or Matthew Street? Also it doesn't necessarily have to be Liverpool we can get to Formby, Southport, Ormskirk, north Wirral just as easily.
There is a sad reason why the wedding is being rushed, so we'd really like to give the groom a good send off and we're really struggling. Thanks.
