UK RHD reg'd cars in very remote places in the world
Discussion
I was in OZ (Sydney) in the mid 90's and saw a few UK machines dotted around the city.
No surprises there as they have pretty strict rules on non RHD non classic machines. IIRC I saw a few TVR's, 3.2 Carrera's, Sierra Cosworth's and a few 3 series convertibles. All were on UK plates waiting to be reg'd or were owned by ex pat Brits. Oh and a R5 GTT phase 2!
So has anyone got pics of UK machines in abstract places?! Outside of Europe.
I saw a G reg JCB in Parga (Greece) but no pic which was a bit odd.
They don't have to be modern. Before the world went utterly insane people did drive to the middle east from GB.
In fact in the early 70's my dad sold a 1200 VW Splitty van to some nutter who paid £100 and off he went to Dover. The bloke telexed my old man some weeks later and said he got to Jordan no problems at all.

I recall in the Top Gear episode set in Albania (I think?) there were rather a lot of 'exported' cars still on their UK plates
They've got a Golf Sport of mine - I still have the spare key and registration document. So if I'm ever over there I'll take the key with me. Gangster country (and they want to be in the EU!)
What about things other than cars? I was in Miami in April, the open top tour bus was an ex-London Leyland double-decker, still carrying a UK plate on the front (OK, it had a Florida plate on the back).
Furthest-from-home I've seen was on the same trip, a German registered camper van being driven out of the Kennedy Space Center visitor car park back towards Orlando!

You might come across my old Volvo 240 GL Estate doing the rounds as a taxi in Banjul, that we drove there.
And the mobile pub (caravan) complete with 70's pub interior, we left it somewhere in the middle of the sahara for a our toureg guide

You might come across a Bedford Ice Cream van too, form an orderly Que gents

I remember seeing pics in the past of Tesco lorries in daft places like Siberia - nicked and driven out there was the general consensus.
Unfortunately general consensus was wrong, massive market for used commercial vehicles from the UK in Russia and Africa, very few of them ever get repainted or the graphics removed.kapiteinlangzaam said:

Here's the link to a website I found the other day.

In 1992 I lived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and there were a lot of UK vehicles out there, not all exported by ex-pats.
Some of the odd ones were a fully liveried British Gas van, the vans with the blue stripes and white upper works. Very strange seeing that there. There was an ambulance which was not that old at the time, the Bedford type used in London during the 1980s. It had something like Bedfordshire Ambulance Service on it.
Anyone remember Excel Logistics? They had rather smart silver lorries. There was one parked up in a village. I assume its owners may not have known it was there.
I was once on Ascension Island - which is in the middle of the Atlantic just south of the equator. This crazy St Helenan man gave me a lift in a UK registered mini bus which had the tailgate of a Ford Fiesta in the back - it had a garage sticker from a dealer in Yorkshire still stuck on the glass.
My friend once had to drive a newish UK registered Jaguar XJ8 from New York to Virginia. A nice little road trip in a 59 plate RHD car. He told me it got quite a lot of attention especially when he stopped for fuel and he bought diesel.
