Purchased the car from Stratstone group, the car is currently being prepared by them for some damage I had a look around the car before taking delivery.

I mentioned to them these panel gaps and they said it is normal, I am wondering if this is acceptable and I should push them further on this issue. The gap is similar on both sides of the car

Aligning the side sill fit can be fiddly, but it can be done. Can't believe they would allow a car to go out looking like that. If they don't fix it, I would bring it to AM's attention and shame them for their lack of quality.

Hope you got a really good deal. With that laundry list of abuse I'm not sure I would've bought the car.

yes

I got Grange to sort a slightly smaller list
Wilmslow then took on a few warranty claims after I'd had it a few months
(all of which they cocked the first time round)

The latest discovery on my car - the panel gap where the boot meets the bumper - its rubbed the paint away in both corners (I noticed when I cleaned the car yesterday, not that you'd believe it looking at it already)

This was the damage in the engine bay, I guess it's the sound deadening for the bulkhead.

They have told me that it is normal that this happens over time (car is 2007 18,000 miles) and that they will not be able to replace the covering rather they will tidy up the area and leave it as is. I think I'll have to pass when my friends want me to open the engine bay for them to see frown

The torn roof issue is something I highlighted ages go, I doubt you'll get a replacement roof
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

This mark is because the roof liner brushes the back of the roll hoop casing and wipes and dirt off it every time it goes up or down, Both mine have had it, a gentle rub with a damp cloth with very very weak detergetn on it sorts it out. I Scotchguarded the liner on my first one, never got round to doing this one whistle

TADTS on the socket cover, warm it up with a hairdryer and bend the tab forward a bit. voila!

^^^^This^^^^

With a list that long, you've managed to find yourself a neglected lemon. Don't be fooled by the low mileage. There are cars with much higher mileages which are in much better condition.

Thanks will do that if they don't manage to sort it out.

they said for the roof there is a service kit that aston give dealers to sort it out so it won't look so unsightly also it hasn't cut through to the outside so it's only really a cosmetic issue for me and I'm happy if they cover it up neatly as they are saying they will do

Normal? What a bunch of crap! The 07MY I'm selling has almost 33K miles and the engine bay is perfect. Don't let them fool you to think that's normal.

P.S. See what I did back there. biggrin
