I'm in Cornwall for a few days next week (staying in Fowey), and need some places to go and get a few shots. Mostly into landscapes.

Any thoughts on locations?

Thanks

there's a lot going on in Cornwall, around the coast is the obvious choice along with old mine buildings, but seeing as you will be in "clay country", there's plenty to try there. The combination of bleak moorland and the man-made clay waste "mountains" and the [often flooded] old pits can make for something a bit different. Look on Google earth and you can see the ground colour is very different from almost anywhere in the country.

Erm, first thoughts
Pendennis castle - great views over land and sea.
Eden Project - looks pretty interesting nestled in it's quarry
Bodmin Moor - Brown Willy (tallest hill in Cornwall), Cheesering (Minions), Caradon Hill - great views. All part of World Heritage site. Carnglaze Caverns?
Sennen and nearby ancient hill fort of Carn Brea down bottom end of Cornwall (St Just/Penznace)
Tintagel, Crackington Haven, Blue Hills (used for Car trials and pretty http://www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/events/lands...
Polperro, Looe fishing villages (Looe is a town).
Tamar Valley ANOB (maybe on the way home as we are looking at the border between Cornwall and England smile )
Calstock viaduct, Horsebridge (good pub there and unashamed plug http://www.TraxandTrails.co.uk 4x4 driving 'tiz what I do), Kit Hill - again wide views

Also you've got to visit the Liskeard Trago Mills (not really!)

Also I presume you've looked at http://www.visitcornwall.com/

You'll enjoy Fowey... lovely town.

Take the ferry over to Boddinick and take some shots of Fowey from the other side. The ferry is a cheap and the distance is almost measurable almost in yards.

Readymoney cove is worth checking out. Port Issac is pretty too.

If you had time to drive to the other coast - Clovelly is picturesque.

I drove across Bodmin Moor one December in an E-Type that I hired in Cornwall. It was spectacular and as this is PH it took less than 6 months for me to buy my own.

Few different places near you - If you take the ferry across the river, then follow signs for polruan. It takes you along the side of a creek which is quite picturesque. Once in polruan main car park, can take some good shots looking back over fowey. Also the road between polruan and looe (as well as looe) is nice, as the road is on the top of cliff. You pass lactic bay as well which is usually always deserted.

Will you have a car?

The north coast is generally more "cliffy" so try say tintagel for cliff shots.

If you want something different then I'd echo the clay country point. (I grew up there) go on Google maps and check out "Blackpool pit"!!

Its massive and will give you some interesting opportunities ( if you want industrial or lunar!)

Here is a (not great) photo to give you an idea:-

and another:-

If you go to the minnack theatre then walk the costal path towards lands end/sennen you'll pass isolated coves with water colours you wouldn't believe exist in this country.

Also kynance cove is nice.
