insurance post company car

If you are about to leave a job with a company car and need to buy your own insurance is there any way to get your spotless company driving record transferred to your new policy?

Can this happen before you leave employment or is it like normal policies where you can't run no claims on more than one policy in concert?

I got a written report from my fleet manager on company headed paper confirming no claims made in 10 years, reduced my first policy by £250.

written record on headed notepaper stating <name> was provided with a company car for x years without claim from <date> to <date>

you will get a discount equivalent to up to 5 years NCD,
I did it through Aviva and they gave me 5 years proper NCD after 2 years with them.
as soon as the 2 years were up this was transferred to another insurance company.

We have this. Problem being potential new insurers are unwilling to act on that letter until the company car has gone back, leaving a problem in the overlap period.
