LOOK 595 frameset - opinions

I found this on EBay. I've always liked Look frames and this one would have been expensive new. Has anyone any experience of their frames and how good a 3 year old frame is likely to be.

Of interest is how easily is it to shorten the seat height as it's possibly 1cm too high. Are there any known weakness issues.
Has anyone ridden one, the geometry look tighter that my Ribble Sportive, and the seat height to bar height is certainly more that the Ribble.

Last of all price. Is a 3 yr old frame worth the £695 asking price.

Any informed view would be welcomed

After 3 years I would expect that the frame would be worn out.





Seriously, a frame will not deteriorate after 3 years of use. Furthermore that appears to be a bargain, except that it looks too new.

Be careful buying off eBay. You have no idea of the provenance and whether the carbon frame is damaged or stolen.

There appears to be a thin patina on the forks and to the rear seat stays consistent with use but personally, I wouldn't touch it.

Impossible to tell anything from pics. Item is collection only which is a good sign, provided it is a residential address. I wouldn't be put off at all by it being three years old. A few pointed questions of the seller should help establish provenance. I certainly wouldn't be put off, but caveat emptor and all that.

I went to buy the frame outside of eBay with an agreed £100 reduction on the eBay buy it now price. On arrival the guy seemed a decent bloke who said he was selling it for a mate. On pulling it out of a big plastic bag he exclaimed that he had not noticed quite a big touch up job on the head tube. It was on the opposite side to where the eBay photos had been taken. The frame had obviously been quite well used but apart from the big touch up job had one or 2 other minor marks.

I was quite disappointed particularly having driven 75 miles. He offered another £50 off the frame and at £550 I suppose it was a quarter of the new price but the head tube touch up was a real amateur attempt. I ended up walking away and driving the 75 miles back home.

A bit p155ed off really particularly as even a cursory glance when he listed it would have shown the problem. Either intentionally or not I felt I had been misled.

Safety first and good call.

75 miles twice is better than 75 years in a wheelchair if the frame was to break when you descend like a pro.

Sounds like a bit of a fly guy trying to pull the wool over...

I recently bought a complete 585 Optimum which as far as I know dates from around 2008 and it is immaculate. You just need to keep searching for the right one to come along.

They are nicely made frames, the finish quality of the carbon is 'almost' as good as my Trigon
