Ripped gasket - will it damage the car?

I have just cleaned my idle control valve due to some idling problems. However while taking it off the gasket to the trottle body has ripped. Since it's my only car I was wondering if it would damage the car by trying to run it, or it is ok to try? I'm aware it will probably run rough, but the main thing is to try while I get a new one delivered but I don't want to risk any damage. Thanks!

Little bit of gasket sealant will help tide you over till you get the replacement gasket... Don't trowel it on... B-)

A throttle body gasket? Very little damage. It's a low (by design) pressure area.

Meh, won't do anything other than make it run dodgy like any other air leak. What type of gasket is it, can you make one out of a cornflake box?

As suggested, fill the gap with cardboard or use a smear of instant gasket. Help mar blue or that black stuff I can't remember the brand of!
