Hi guys, since last year i've only driver 4,000 miles and the 4th year service is now due!

Do you think that a service is required even though only 4,000 miles have been added?

Also, does anyone have the service parts required and the service check list for the Vantage 4.7 Roadster Sportshift (2010)?

No authorised workshop where i live so the local mechanic will service it!

Thanks.

I still go to the dentist twice a year even if I've been on a diet.

Things go wrong due to time as well as usage, so I would, and its always better to have a correctly stamped serviced history come sell time

Your profile states that you live in London where there are a number of dealers.

I suspect you devalue your car more by not having it serviced (at the prescribed interval and by an authorised dealer or independent specialist) than you save. False economy.

my car has only done 3k a year the last few years....all sunny pleasure miles though ...and still serviced regularly

I go to an independent Aston specialist and pay £550 ish

partial service history will reduce your market come resale and dealers/traders will want to offer less than bottom book price

Some would say a low mileage is reason enough TO service these lovely cars !!!

Look in FAQs above for some good servicing tips smile

Do you think i would say that there's no authorised workshop if i was still in London?? In Cyprus now..

It's not about saving, it's just a hassle ordering everything and then making sure the service is done correctly!

Do you mind telling us which independent specialist you use and whether you recommend them unreservedly?

I'm pretty sure from previous posts Bogie is talking about Bridge Mill. They do my servicing and I would recommend them also.

You are right in thinking it probably doesn't need a service, some cars these days go 30k between services. However, it will more than likely affect the resale value. The 4 year service isn't cheap, I paid about £950 from AM in Reading and they fixed all the little issues I had with my V8 smile

I had the same thoughts as you, having only covered 1,700 miles (note to self, must get out more).
My car is a keeper, so lack of servicing will make no difference to saleability.
Decided to do things properly, so had the service done.
I even thought about not having the oil changed, but did have it replaced, rather than 'pinch a few pennies'.

Nothing at all found to be wrong, so at least I think I have a 'goodun'.

Do you have a very exciting fleet of vehicles that you use the rest of the time or do you not enjoy driving the Aston that much? tumbleweed

Last winter did not help.

I know Astons do have windscreen wipers, but going out just to enjoy the drive when it is raining, means another job of cleaning.

I either have too much to do, or I am lazy. Not sure which.

Better weather now though, and some kind of football competition means the roads are deserted, so I have no excuses.

Ive Bridge Mill in Macclesfield last few times as im about 50 miles away, my nearest specialist

Have also used PSR Automotive in Bishops Stortford, who also do excellent service as well as pick up/drop off at airport when im away on business ...very convenient

both do an excellent job, follow AM service schedule (and provide you with it) use OE parts ...the only difference is cheaper labour rate, and they do extra bits the dealer does not, like paint rusty disc hubs as necessary

what you dont get is a swanky showroom to wait in ....

It doesn't need an oil change but it DOES need a service by someone who knows the car and check all is well.

I honestly don't agree with this sentiment. Some cars do less than 1000 miles in a year, most are garage princesses, never see road salt / bad weather.

Years ago a large group of us would do trackdays in our daily cars, several a month in some cases, and we probably only serviced them every few months (brakes/oil etc), these cars had hard lives and needed more attention.

If an Aston will fall apart in 12 months with hardly any use then they are built by monkeys with rubbish components.... which we know isn't the case.

This is all subjective, mine is serviced on the dot regardless of mileage but do I believe it needs it.... not at all.

(I've had an RX-7 TT, now that is a car that requires mega servicing)

My lawn mower goes all summer without needing any air putting in the tyres and is used once or twice a week. Its then not touched for 4 months in the winter and when I get it out for the new season, there's always at least one tyre that needs air. Strange things happen when things aren't used.

Who are you planning on using? Lived there 7 years and owned an independent garage in Nicosia specialising in Aston, amongst others, so may be able to recommend or not!
