6 wheel drive restoration Help

Afternoon all

I have a 60s/70s Amphicat (think banana splits) that i would like to get running and turning properly.

Does anyone know someone in the south east UK that would like to take it on. Most places are not interested in it.

Any help would be appreciated.

I love those things - like a mini Stalwart, and I wanted one so much as a kid. Not much help I know. How did you acquire it?

Ebay, it was in a pretty bad state when i got it. Although i think it looks slightly better now, i went down the jps colour route.

I have not used in in over a year and would really like to get it moving again.

Anyone know of someone in the south east or even the UK ?

Did these things share anything in common with the Vietnam era M274 Mule utility vehicle...?

If so, maybe one of the UK mil vehicle restoration specialists might be worth contacting.

Or maybe one of the similar Argocat specialists....?

there used to be someone in Westerham that had one on the wall ouside the workshop, not sure about now though havnt been there for a few years.

I think ( my Google foo is weak) it was the first 6 wheel amphibious atv.

Unfortunately it does not share common running gear with the argocat, i'm not to sure about the Vietnam thing.

Also where about in Westerham was the one you saw? might have to take a look.

I have restored my Octad (pictured) but I don't think it has a lot in common with your Amphicat !

It doesn't look in bad condition from your pictures.

Can I ask why you're not willing / able to tinker with it yourself? It can't be too difficult to work on? Like anything, if you take a slow, methodical approach to working on it, then you'll be fine?

Yeah it's a bit of a kronenbourg still but looks a lot better. The pic below is what it looked like when I picked it up. As most things in the petrol head world a few thing have come up. Storage issues/New job/Getting lazy haha.

So really looking for someone to do the mechanics on it.

THat looks very similar to an argocat, I would think it very much based on the same parts, Crayford Convertible Vehicle based in Westerham are the Argocat importers and agents since many years, there probably the best people to speak too.

Chaps thanks for the help. But i have had it many years and know a fair amount about it. Route 6x6 is ok but all US based.

It may look like an argocat but the mechanics are different, its older plus it has a 300cc 2 stroke.

I will keep looking for a mechanic/bike restorer.
