Passed Driving Test Again...

Stupidly got 6 points in my first 2 years driving so had to resit both theory and practical tests.
Passed theory no bother.
Booked my driving test for 2:57. A dual control hire car for 2:30.
Went to collect the hire car at 2:30 to be told "sorry we cant give you it you have points on your licence"
Queue calling them w
kers for not mentioning it before...
So half a hour before my test I have no car to sit the test in. Cant go on mums insurance due to adrian flux only insuring over (21/23/25?) year olds.
Turned up at the test centre hoping a driving instructor might be there with a free hour.
Luckily a girl had just finished her test. Ran over to the instructor who agreed to loan me the car for the hour if my mum would take the girl who had just failed home.
Got in the car for the first time with the examiner,had to ask him where I put the key as it was a weird card type thing.
Within 15 minutes of starting the test he said "I didnt expect anyone to pass their test in a car they have never been in before."
Passed it with 1 minor for not checking over my shoulder once.
Anyone else got driving test storys?

My driving test went smoothly, well until I met the examiner "Oh Hello there, how do I call you Joseph?". I knew from that point this was going to be... interesting. Sure enough instructions were a little delayed and a little disjointed in their delivery occasionally, sometimes arriving the same time I got to junctions.

First test failed for 'almost' hitting a gas van. Not sure what the examiner was so nervous about?
Second test passed...... even though I stalled on a hill start. It did relax me a little as I thought I had failed, so the rest of the test went fine without a single issue..... phew!

I did all my lessons in a Mk3 Fiesta then just before my test my instructor swapped it for a Kia Pride (with the indicator and wiper stalks on the opposite side). Naturally, I still passed first time. I got a minor for staying in 4th on a 50mph stretch of road, but that was the first time I'd driven a 5 speed car.

I got 6 points in one go for 90 in a 60

Tried get mine off Arnold Clark, £9 a hour I think.
Insurance has come down from last year. Had licence for 2 years, turned 19 and 2 years no claims.
£860 on focus down from £1300.
Q3- after getting the initial 3 points, how stupid do you have to be to know that next three points will take you off road. Might have been better to have spent the cash on Pass plus etc.

I don't understand these forums sometimes. I can be as big a dick to other posters as the next guy can, but why have a go at him when he clearly realises that he was foolish to have to re-take?

Well done on passing again.
The clutch failed on the instructor's car when my friend was taking his test, so he failed for not completing it.
And then the instructor tried to argue his way out of refunding him for the rental fee for the test. He found someone else and passed the next test. That always struck me as unlucky.

I passed my test in Australia when I lived there, I failed the test in the UK.
I hadn't driven for 3 years, didn't have any lessons bar a few hours in the wife's car, turned up, drove ok but not perfect, the examiner just, that's alright mate you've passed, it was far far easier than in the UK. I moved back and swapped it for. UK license.

I'm not going to berate you. Youngsters have been dying on the roads for years.
I managed to somehow avoid many opportunities to become a statistic when I was younger.
It seems the Dept. of Transport have delayed the White Paper on what to do to reduce the chances of young and inexperienced drivers meeting a premature end on our roads again. It seems the choices are graduated driving tests, in Canada you have to go back and take a second test once you've passed the first and got some experience, and blackbox big brother recorders looking over their shoulders.
A third way would be to waive the IPT (6%) to drivers that pass the IAM or RoSPA tests, but then the IAM are billed on the BBC Watchdog programme as Britain's largest car safety charity rather than being about driving.
You could keep it up and buy a copy of Roadcraft from eBay and some DVDs and book a few more lessons with an Instructor before going for the IAM or RoSPA tests. I've never been involved with a local group, I just had a couple of sessions with an instructor before the tests.
If you could pass the test under those circumstances with one minor then you could be capable of passing an advanced test already.
